Herman, a journalist who works with Times Now and Mirror Now channels, was attacked in Gamdevi when he was returning from a friend's place.
Herman sustained injuries on his hand and right eye - and needed six stiches. What has come as more shocking is that the Gamdevi police station refused to file an FIR.
"It was a pre-planned attack...my eye is badly affected and so is my body. I don't know which story affected people so much," Herman wrote on Facebook. He also said that he has no indication who these people are.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's office assured action. "We have taken the incident seriously and we would take action," Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Deven Bharti said.
