The driver, identified as Anil Patel, confessed to the murder of Amrita as she refused to reveal her ATM card’s number to him, following which he repeatedly stabbed her, Inspector General (IG) Indore Range Sanjay Rana said.
Another accused arrested with Patel was identified as Bhavesh Soni who aided and abetted him in the crime, the IG said.
Patel told the police that he came to know that there was a lot of money in Amrita’s account and he decided to steal it along with Soni, according to Rana.
The driver was known to Amrita. He used to take care of minor repairs of her car, police said.
