Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma on Friday said the concept of a test-tube baby had existed in the country in ancient times as well and that "Sitaji" was an example of the same.

A day after stating that journalism existed in the period of the Mahabharata and that the sage Narada was the first journalist in the world, Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma on Friday said that "Sitaji" (wife of Lord Ram) was a "test-tube" baby.

Speaking at a function here, Sharma said the concept of a test-tube baby had existed in the country in ancient times as well and that "Sitaji" was an example of the same.

"It is said that Sitaji had been born in earthenware... Janakji (Sita's father) ploughed the land... an earthenware vessel was found under the land from which came out Sitaji," Sharma said.

He said that such a birth could very well be called an example of a "test tube" baby.

Barely two days ago, Sharma had said that the Mahabharata battle was telecast live.

"Sanjay, an aide of Kaurava king Dhritarashtra, had delivered live commentary of the battle to his master. What was it if not a live telecast?" said Sharma.

He also said Narada could be compared with 'Google'. "Narada was a fountain of information and he used to disseminate the same around the world, which is the job of a journalist," he said.
