After flying in a military aircraft and landing on the Purvanchal Expressway, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead “Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv” celebration in Uttar Pradesh later this week, as his party appeared to be making national security as one of its main poll planks ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections.
About ten members of the Uttar Pradesh legislative council, belonging to the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party, will be joining the BJP soon.

"I initiated a lot of projects for UP. Poor were given pucca houses, toilets were ensure in their houses so that women don't need to step out to relieve themselves, that every house should have electricity - a lot of such things were necessary to be taken up here
"But I'm pained that the then UP govt didn't cooperate. They were also scared of upsetting their vote banks by standing beside me in public. I used to come as an MP, they used to disappear after receiving me at airport. They were ashamed as they had nothing to show as work," he added.

After being denied permission to take out a 'Vijay Yatra' from Ghazipur to Azamgarh on Tuesday, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has said that it will "symbolically" inaugurate the Purvanchal Expressway by showering flower petals on it.
The BJP on Monday dismissed as "lies" Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav's claims on the Purvanchal Expressway project.
Samajwadi Party leader Abhishek Mishra criticised the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
He claimed that custodial deaths are taking place in the state and the public was afraid of approaching the police.
Mishra stressed the SP's main priority if elected to power in Uttar Pradesh next year would be to control the failing law and order situation and focus on providing job opportunities. (PTI)
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has said that when his party comes to power, he would change back the names of various districts.
"Even before the paint on the new name dries up, we will be back and will revert to the original name," he said at a press conference here on Monday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday had suggested that Azamgarh, which is Akhilesh Yadav's parliamentary constituency, could be changed to Aryamgarh.
