Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that ‘sisters-daughters’ and religious places would be the first to ‘suffer’ if the people (Hindus) were divided on the basis of caste, language and region.

Speaking at a function organised on the occasion of the first anniversary of the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla at the newly constructed Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Adityanath said that the ‘Sanatan Dharma’ would be strengthened only when the people were united.

‘’Agar hum jati, bhasha aur kshetra ke adhaar par batenge to sabse pehle iska khamiyaza hamare dharmik sthalon ko, behen betiyon ko bhugatna padega,’’ (our religious places, daughters and sister will be the first ones to suffer if we are divided on the basis of caste, language and region), he said.

‘’We will have to face persecution if we are divided....Sanatan will be strong if we are united,’’ the chief minister added.

He said that the Hindus must ‘introspect’ as to why their gods and religious places were ‘desecrated’.

Adityanath said that Ayodhya has undergone a sea change in the past few months. ‘’Ayodhya will emerge as the most beautiful city in the world when the Ram Temple is fully completed in the next two years,’’ he said.

Earlier Adityanath took part in the special puja at the Ram Temple on the occasion of the first anniversary of Ram Lalla's idol's consecration. The idol of Ram Lalla was bathed with milk, honey, ghee, sugar and curd by a team of priests and later with the sacred water of the Ganga.

A special ‘shringar’ of Ram Lalla was also done on this occasion.

A large number of devotees from different parts of the country have descended on Ayodhya on this occasion. The streets of Ayodhya were filled with the devotees walking toward the Ram Temple singing ‘bhajans’ (religious songs).
