Special judge MP/MLA court Shobhit Bansal in Rampur also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 on Abdullah in the matter.

Barely a few days back, Abdullah and Azam Khan were sentenced by the court in a case pertaining to preparing forged birth certificates. The duo was lodged in state’s Sitapur district jail.

They were released from jail on bail in the matter two months back but were sent back to jail again last month after being convicted in a fake Pan Card case.

Abdullah and his father have been facing over 40 cases including those of land grabbing, forging documents and others.

The prosecution had contended that Abdullah Azam had forged his birth certificate to contest the assembly elections in 2013. His birth certificate showed 1990 as his year of birth while his educational certificates mentioned 1993 as the year of his birth.

Azam Khan had allegedly helped his son in getting the forged birth certificate.

The SP claims that the cases lodged against Azam Khan and his son were politically motivated and party president Akhilesh Yadav had declared that all the cases against the duo would be withdrawn if his party was able to form government in the state.
