Uttarakhand flood: CM announces Rs 4L to kin of deceased

After major floods followed by a glacial burst devastated areas in Uttarakhand, CM T S Rawat announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each for the kin of the deceased.

An avalanche following a glacial burst in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, on Sunday morning caused a massive flood and damaged two hydro-power projects on Rishiganga and Dhauliganga rivers trapping hundreds of workers at the projects and triggering alert in the districts along the Ganga river in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, 10 bodies have been recovered and more than 100 are missing. The Indian Army, NDRF and state disaster forces were deployed for rescue operations.
