The Vadodara parliamentary constituency vacated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, though reeling under a flood situation, will go for bypolls as scheduled on Saturday.

With elections being the last thing in the minds of people, despite representations from political parties the Election Commission has decided to go ahead with the voting on Saturday.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, District Collector Avantika Singh Aulakh said, “The elections will be held as per schedule and the district administration is geared up to conduct the election.”The turnout was 74 per cent in the elections when Modi had contested.
But in the given condition, which is already a low key affair and with lightweights contesting, the floods have just added on to the disinterest.

Campaigning for the bypolls will conclude on Thursday and while the Congress was to hold a rally, the BJP had planned to go on a more vigorous door to door campaign.
