Union Minister Vayalar Ravi will attend the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session here on Sunday as its senior-most member, after Pranab Mukherjee became the President of India.

“I am very happy to get this distinction,” Ravi, the Overseas Indian Affairs minister, said. He became a member of AICC in 1967. The 75-year-old leader from Kerala has missed only one such session so far. He became an MP in 1972 and the home minister of Kerala in 1982.

A three-time Rajya Sabha MP, Ravi has been a minister at the Centre for eight years now. As the AICC general secretary, he was in charge of the party affairs in Karnataka some years ago. He was also the president of the Kerala unit of the party.
