Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Wednesday questioned the deferment of Ayodhya hearing by the Supreme Court.
It said that the Hindus were ''anguished'' by apex court's decision and added that the proposed 'dharm sabhas' (religious meetings) in Ayodhya, Nagpur and Bengaluru later this month was meant to convey the message to the court and the government on the issue of the Ram temple's construction.
Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, VHP's international vice-president Champat Rai said that the Hindus had been waiting for the Ram temple for the past 500 years.
''They are not in a mood to wait any longer,'' he said.
Rai said that the court had ''ignored'' the feelings of the Hindus.
''We expect justice from the judiciary. The Supreme Court's remark that the issue is not in their priority is insulting,'' he said.
Hindus were ''anguished'' by the deferment and the only way to ensure construction of the Ram temple was to make a law, VHP leader Bholendra, who was also there, said.
The VHP leaders accused the Congress of trying to create hurdles for the Ram temple's construction.
