Congress President Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter on Thursday and charged the BJP government at the Centre had “too much to hide” on the Rafale aircraft deal, which was stopping it from agreeing to a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe.
“Dear Mr Jaitley, I guess your boss refused to hold a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe on the GREAT RAFALE ROBBERY? Too much to hide, too scared to face the people, I suppose,” Rahul said, a day after daring the Modi government to constitute a JPC on Rafale deal and set a 24-hour challenge.
Earlier, at a press conference, Rahul read out from the joint statement issued by Modi and the then French President Francois Hollande in Paris in April 2015 to support his claim that the configuration of the aircraft was the same as approved under UPA regime..
“The two leaders agreed that the aircraft and associated systems and weapons would be delivered on the same configuration as had been tested and approved by Indian Air Force,” Rahul read.
He wondered whether he should assume that the person standing next to Hollande in April 2015 was not Modi but “someone else”.
