The BJP leadership in West Bengal has decided to intensify its campaign to gain the support of the Muslim community in the state with an eye on the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

According to party sources, the campaign will be conducted at the village level on a door-to-door basis to make minority voters aware of how they were being “misled” by the TMC, as well as by the CPM and Congress. Party sources said one of the key issues of the campaign will be to counter the “false propaganda” of the TMC, CPM and Congress to label BJP “anti-Muslim”.

“We will tell the Muslim community in the state how the TMC and earlier ruling parties in Bengal used them as merely a vote bank without bothering about their socio-economic development,” a senior state BJP leader said.

He also said the BJP government’s decision regarding Triple Talaq and how it benefited Muslim women will be a key a feature of the campaign.
