Popular actress, dancer, singer and model, Shefali Jariwala passed away in Mumbai on Friday night.
She was 42, and is survived by husband Parag Tyagi, an actor.
According to initial reports, the actress suffered a suspected cardiac arrest and was rushed to the Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital at Andheri, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body has been sent to Dr R N Cooper Municipal General Hospital at Vile Parle for post-mortem. On Saturday morning, a team of Mumbai Police officials visited the hospital and her residence.
"Her body was found at her residence in Andheri. The police received the information at 0100 hrs. Her body has been sent to Cooper Hospital for postmortem. The cause of her death is not yet clear," police officials stated.
An autopsy has been performed and the opinion about her cause of death has been “reserved”, a police official said on Saturday.
Who is Shefali Jariwala?
An Indian actress and model, Shefali was born on December 15, 1982, in Gujarat's Ahmedabad in a Gujarati family.
She had pursued engineering in IT from the Sardar Patel College of Engineering.
Shefali had started her career in the entertainment industry, but she rose to fame after her 2002 song video Kaanta Laga.
She also appeared in Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. She had also worked in the South Indian film industry, films including - Hudugaru and Naadodigal.
Shefali also worked in television where she made her first appearance in Boogie Woogie in 2008.
She also performed in Nach Baliye 5, Nach Baliye 7. In 2019, she entered Big Boss 13 as a wild card contestant.
The 42-year-old actress had married Harmeet Singh in 2004, but divorced in 2009 alleging domestic abuse. She married again in 2014 and tied the knot with Parag Tyagi.
She had also claimed in public that she was diagnosed with epilepsy in her teen years and that she experienced her first seizure at the age of 15.
Shefali also said that she had received medical treatment for about 10 years crediting yoga in helping her manage her neurological disorder.
