Lance Naik Ranjeet Singh was one among the three soldiers, who were killed by Pakistan’s Border-Action Team (BAT) in the Sunderbani Area on the Rajouri district on Sunday. He was about to come home to attend to his expecting wife. BAT, which consists of regular Pakistani soldiers and terrorists, carries out operations across LOC to dent the Indian army and paramilitary forces.

In the middle of Monday night, Shimpu Devi, wife of the slain soldier Lance Naik Singh was admitted to Ramban hospital following excessive labour pains. She delivered a baby girl, early the next morning. Shimpu said that her child is the nation’s daughter and wants her to join the Indian Army.

Shimpu Devi was present at Seri Ghats cremation ground where her husband's mortal remains were cremated with full military honour. Slogans of ‘Shaheed Ranjeet Amar Rahe’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ reverberated among the crowd gathered to pay their respects. Officers from army, police and civil administration and the local residents paid tribute to the martyr.
