"People who are not qualified and those who cannot apply for jobs because of being over-age will be engaged as 'rail sevaks' at railway stations where we have trolley services like Howrah and Sealdah railway stations," Banerjee said at a function at Howrah railway station.

"They will assist women and elderly passengers in carrying their luggage. Initially they will be paid less and gradually they will be given between Rs.4,000 and Rs.10,000," Banerjee said.

Banerjee also flagged off three new express trains - the Sealdah-Rampurhat intercity express, the Shalimar-Baripada intercity express and the Howrah-Suri Express.

An exhibition train displaying the life and works of Swami Vivekananda was flagged off by the minister on the occasion of his 148th birth anniversary. The train will travel across the country spreading the message and works of the great philosopher, she said.
