However, none of the political undercurrents seemed to show at the all-party meeting convened here by Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Thursday, which suggested that the session would be smooth.

Kumar said leaders were “very keen” that the House transacts all business including passage of bills during the 21-day session.

Opposition leaders submitted 45 issues they wanted to be discussed during the session, while also requesting the speaker to extend the session period.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj of the BJP said the government and the opposition had virtually no differences on the issues to be discussed, but they had diverse views on the manner in which they are discussed.

CPI general secretary Gurudas Dasgupta said his party would bring an adjournment motion to discuss “failure” of the government to implement the unanimous resolution of the House on price rise adopted in the last session.

Meanwhile, the Union government on Wednesday expressed its keenness to pass the Lokpal bill during the forthcoming session.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was hopeful that the Standing Committee headed by Abhishek Singhvi would submit its report by the month end though it had time till December 7. The session would conclude on December 21, barring extension.
