Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav was stopped by a woman security personnel at Jaya Prakash Narayan International Airport for trying to enter the premises through the exit gate on Tuesday.

The fracas took place when Yadav, Union Minister of State for Water and Sanitation, made an attempt to enter the airport premises through the western gate which is meant for passengers’ exit.

The woman constable from the Central Industrial Security Force deployed at the gate initially requested Yadav to enter the premises through “entry gate”, but when the latter insisted, she talked to her seniors on her walkie-talkie and sought instructions.

Before her seniors could react, Yadav, sensing trouble, beat a hasty retreat. Later, the Union minister apologised for his gaffe. “I admit it was a mistake on my part for trying to enter the airport premises through exit gate,” Yadav, the Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament from Pataliputra who had defeated Lalu’s daughter Misa Bharti in 2014 Lok Sabha elections, said.

Yadav had gone to the airport to receive Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya with whom he was scheduled to attend a programme later in the day.

This was the second incident of any minister’s high-handedness at Patna airport in recent times. A few years ago, Akhilesh Prasad Singh had reportedly slapped the station manager of a private airlines Sagar Nath Das at Patna airport after the “VIP” was not accommodated in the Kolkata-bound flight.

Akhilesh, who was then minister of state for food and civil supplies in the Manmohan Singh ministry, not only slapped Das but also used choicest invectives.
