It was suspected that she had consumed some poisonous substance, sources said.

Sources said that flames leaped out of the woman's mouth followed by smoke before the explosion.

''The woman may have consumed sulphuric acid....the explosion may have been caused after it came into contact with oxygen,'' said one of the doctors.

The doctors said that they had not come across such a case in the past. ''We will conduct research to ascertain what may have caused the explosion,'' chief medical officer (CMO) of the hospital Ansar Zaidi said.

He said that the medical college would also take help of the other specialists in trying to find out more about the case.

The family members of the deceased said that they had no idea as to how she consumed poison. ''She was going to a relative's house in another village but suddenly collapsed and fainted,'' said a relative.
