Gazala, 25, was beaten by an iron rod. Gazala's mother alleged that her daughter, who was married last year, was being tortured by her husband and in-laws for Rs.30,000 and a gold chain, a police officer said.
Gazala's mother has filed a police complaint.
After Gazala's death, her neighbours ransacked her father-in-law Masood Alam's house and beat her husband Mahboob Alam. The police arrested them later.
