“Two female passengers refused to be scanned for medical and religious reasons. In accordance with the government directive on scanners, they were not permitted to fly,” an airport spokeswoman said.
Instead of going through the scanners, the women reportedly decided to forfeit their tickets.
The introduction of scanners has been criticised by civil liberties campaigners as an invasion of privacy.
