“Such reservation should have provision for sub-quota for dalits, backwards and minorities. The LJP would support changes to this effect in the proposed legislation for reservation for women in parliament and state legislatures,” party chief Ram Vilas Paswan told reporters here after chairing the national executive meeting of the party here.

Meanwhile, an umbrella organisation of Muslims in the country has called for a special sub-quota for Muslim women in the bill.

The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat in its meeting held here on Saturday passed a resolution that the bill should not be a back door entry for forward castes and rich to grab more seats in the legislatures.

The resolution said that it is necessary to provide within any agreed quota for women, sub-quotas for marginalised sections including a specific sub-quota for Muslim women.
