Vivek reportedly got down from a beacon-fitted vehicle, entered the SU College, Hilsa, carrying a forged letter of the District Magistrate(DM). He told the school authorities that he had been asked to check the irregularities at the examination centre by the DM. But to his sheer bad luck, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Chandrashekhar, who was actually deputed by the DM to inspect the examination venue, too reached there around the same time.

A bemused SDO asked the policemen on duty to verify the antecedents of Vivek. It was found that the DM’s letter to Vivek was a forged one. The police immediately seized Vivek’s vehicle, mobile phones and identity cards. Following questioning by police Vivek revealed that he had qualified Indian Engineering Service (IES) held under the aegis of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. He said he posed as an IAS probationer in order to impress a girl examinee at the examination centre.
