The Parappana Agrahara police registered an FIR on August 28 on a complaint by Neha Parween from Choodasandra.

The FIR stated that Neha has been feeding strays in her apartment for nearly four years, which some residents allegedly opposed.

On August 27, around 4 pm, Neha and her father went to feed the strays when residents Salim, Sudha, Kavita, Aminul Rehman, and Vinod allegedly abused and threatened them. They also hit the strays, the FIR noted.

The five were booked under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for wrongful restraint, criminal intimidation, and cruelty to animals. Further probe is under way.
