Bengaluru: A 36-year-old history-sheeter was arrested for assaulting a milk shop owner and his wife following a quarrel over parking in Electronics City, police said on Sunday.
The arrested, Tarun Chaudhury, is a native of Bihar and is involved in real estate dealings in Bengaluru, the Hebbagodi police said.
Around 10 pm on October 9, Chaudhury allegedly drove up to the shop, owned by Gopal HV, 42, in Electronics City Phase II, in a black Range Rover accompanied by two bodyguards.
On arriving, he demanded to know who the shopkeeper was. Spotting Gopal, he asked his bodyguards for a cane and entered the shop, where he allegedly assaulted him. When Gopal’s wife tried to intervene, she was attacked, too, the FIR stated.
“Chaudhury warned us that if we parked the milk van in front of the shop, he would shoot us or run us over with his car. He also beat us up using his footwear,” Gopal said in his complaint.
CCTV footage of the incident went viral on Sunday. It also showed Chaudhury kicking his bodyguards and punching one of them when they tried to restrain him.
Police have booked Chaudhury under BNS sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 126 (wrongful restraint), 133 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person, otherwise than on grave provocation), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 74 (assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty).
He has been remanded to judicial custody.
