Mumbai: In a shocking incident, two persons were drowned while they were performing asthi visarjan in the Arabian Sea near the Haji Ali dargah in the Mumbai coast on Saturday evening.

The deceased were identified as Santosh Vishweshwar (51) and Kunal Kokate (45).

One of their friends, Sanjay Sarvankar (58) was rescued by local fishermen and police personnel.

According to the Mumbai Police and BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, the incident took place off the Lotus Jetty near Haji Ali.

However, local fisherman and police personnel pulled them out and rushed them to the Nair Hospital, where two of them, Vishweshwar and Kokate were pronounced dead on admission.

Sarvankar was administered treatment and his condition was described as stable.

According to reports, Vishweshwar’s mother had passed away and they had gone for asthi visarjan.
