It looks like the Twilight series has given an all-new boost to the already obsessed world of beauty and skin care, for the items on the latest skin care trends is ever-rising, writes Dr Shuba Dharmana.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants help to reduce free radical damage in the skin. Free radicals are elements that are unstable and are formed from various reactions and external stresses that happen to the body from pollution, smoking, stress, sunlight, alcohol, etc. Antioxidant rich serums as well as tablets are available that can be prescribed by your dermatologist.

Peptides

Peptide molecules that help to stimulate collagen are being included in a lot of skin care products for rejuvenation and anti-ageing.

Vampire facelift (PRP)

It is a treatment that uses your own blood that is centrifuged to give a platelet rich plasma. After the skin is numbed with a cream, this plasma is either injected through tiny needles into the skin or is delivered into the skin through a dermaroller instrument which has tiny needles all around. it helps to rejuvenate skin and reduce scars by inducing collagen synthesis in the skin.

Liquid facelift

This is very popular all across the globe and is performed non-surgically with the help of Botox and Dermal Filler injections to reduce wrinkles, lift, plump, and sculpt the face. They are done as a lunch-time procedure with no general anaesthesia, are very safe and effective with minimal downtime.

Peels

Peels are solutions applied to the skin in your dermatologist’s clinic. It will cause your skin to flake and peel away revealing inner layers of skin that have lesser pigmentation and more brightness. A series of peels are required to reduce spots, pigmentation and to remove tan.

Photofacials

Photofacials are delivered by lasers and other equipment. A laser photofacial is a rejuvenating treatment that imparts a glow. It also reduces tan and spots.

Microdermabrasion

This one is a skin polishing treatment that helps to revive dull skin.

Hydrafacial

A liquid skin polishing treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts, and hydrates skin. Helpful for people that have acne prone, oily skin, blackheads, whiteheads, ageing skin, and open pores.
