In late 2020, reports emerged that Apple commenced testing foldable iPhone, starting with the work on the durability of the key components such as the screen and bearings of the folding mobile.

Later, more details coming from the supply chain in China in January 2021 indicated that Apple is considering both clamshell design, which folds vertically and other when unfurls, spread to 7.3-inch - 7.6-inch screen wide.

Now, the latest report says that Apple is considering bringing the latter 7.6-inch version initially. It is also considering introducing Stylus similar to the Apple Pencil (for iPads), possibly in smaller dimensions for users to make full utilization of the widescreen.

However, there is no word if the device comes with an in-built holster to hold the stylus or Apple will offer special accessories for it. There is also a possibility that the company may incorporate magnets on the back of the phone to dock the stylus and offer a custom folio case to prevent the misplacing of the Apple Pencil.

If things go as planned, the foldable iPhone is expected to hit stores in 2023, Omdia, global communications, and digital media research organisation, said.

Apple is known for taking a lot of time before implementing any new features to its product. It conducts extensive tests on prototypes and only after getting good results, the company gives the nod.

This way, there will be far fewer cases of owners facing any durability issues while using the foldable iPhone and ake no mistake, it will certainly be expensive than the standard models.
