Akaash Ahok Kumar and Judy Alban successfully defended their titles at the ARC 3rd Karnataka State Tenpin bowling championships that concluded here at Amoeba on Sunday.

In the men’s final, Akaash came up against former National champion Vijay Punjabi and both players could not be separated from the start.

Akaash began strongly with four strikes but fell away towards the end of his first game to end with 208.
It was contrasting for Punjabi who was slow off the blocks but ended Game 1 with five strikes to trail his opponent by a solitary pin.

But the defending champion came out all guns blazing in the second round to score an impressive 235. Punjabi endured a poor run and ended with an ordinary 167 to hand Akaash the title by a margin of 69 pins.

The women’s final was a more closely contested as Chethana Rajshekar provided stiff competition to Judy but fell marginally short.

Judy got off to a flier with three strikes but faded to end with 177 after the first round. It was still enough to give her a lead of 19 pins as Chethana could only muster 158.

Chethana had a better outing in the second with a respectable 183 but Judy held her nerve to score 174 and triumph by 10 pins.
