Bangaloreans Akshay Bhardwaj and Meghana TC emerged champions in the State under-11 chess championship that concluded at the State Youth Centre here on Sunday.
Akshay defeated Shabhik Varma in the final round to clinch the boys’ title and Meghana retained her girls’ section crown with a easy win over Manasa HR. Akshay, Pangal Gopalkrishna Nayak of Mangalore, Meghana and Andria from Mangalore will thus represent the State in the upcoming under-11 National championship to be held at Shimoga from July 10 to 18.
