The Jamaican said he has another four years left in him, after which he wants to become a professional footballer, and if he is able to touch 9.4secs, his record will never be beaten. “I have four more good years provided I train hard,” Bolt told BBC Radio.

On life after athletics Bolt added: “When I finish I’d like to play football for two years. I always watch those guys and I think I could be a professional footballer. I’ll try that. Maybe I could get into a good side or even an average side. I’m definitely a good player - a defensive or attacking midfielder. Somewhere around there.”

“First I’m hoping to get to 9.4sec because that’s where I think the record will probably never be beaten.” The 24-year-old said things are improving in athletics as far as cheating is concerned. “For me it’s all about time. If someone stops cheating then over a period of time people will start to trust that person again,” he said.

“In track and field they are doing a really good job of catching the cheats so it’s hard to cheat. The sport is getting there. We have been through a couple of years where there has been a little scandal but nothing major. It will get cleaner and will be back to a sport with no problem.”
