Clarke helps Aussies to a draw

Dismissing the Windies for 317 in the second essay, the Aussies set themselves a target of 330 runs on a turning Adelaide Oval strip. With Dwayne Bravo in his elements, the Aussies had their task cut out but Michael Clarke’s unbeaten half century and opening batsman Shane Watson’s patient 48 helped the hosts to 212 for five in 76 overs. Australia lead the three-match series 1-0 and play the final Test at Perth from December 16.

The target of 330 had long since become irrelevant when Clarke and Brad Haddin came together half-an-hour after tea. Bravo, the first-innings centurion, was swinging the ball dangerously and had just picked up a pair of wickets that meant survival was the only aim for Australia.  Bravo picked up three for 37 from 15 overs.
