Indian captain Virat Kohli has hit out at his team's hectic schedule that leaves little time for proper preparation ahead of major series like the one coming up against South Africa.

Kohli, speaking before the second Test against Sri Lanka here, confirmed that the team had asked for green-top wickets to simulate South African conditions.

"Yes, because unfortunately, we get only two days before we fly to South Africa after this series is over," said Kohli, when asked if the team had asked for pitches with grass cover.

"So, we have no choice but be in a game situation and think of what's ahead," he said.
