We had a rollicking start yesterday with New Zealand completely dismantling the reigning champions England in Ahmedabad. The Blackcaps restricted the Three Lions to just 282/9 before notching up those runs with 9 wickets and 13.4 overs to spare.
Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra smashed rapid unbeaten centuries as England looked toothless while getting their title defense off to a nightmare start.

Pommie Mbangwa and Shane Watson doing the pitch report for the broadcasters report that it is 63 metres square, 65 metres on the other side. Straight is 75 metres.
They reckon that it looks like a good wicket, little bit of dryness at the top but it is rock hard. Could get better under lights, lot of runs to be scored.

The Dutch played some smart cricket today, as they opened with spin and put Pakistan under pressure right from the start.
An important partnership between Mohammad Rizwan (68 off 75 balls) and Saud Shakeel (68 off 72 balls) helped Pakistan recover from that early wobble. However, it was Bas de Leede who was the star for Netherlands as he finished with impressive figures of 9-0-62-4.

A brave fight from Netherlands but they ultimately wither against Pakistan's exceptional bowling attack. Opener Vikramjit Singh (52 off 67 balls) and Bas de Leede (67 off 68 balls) gave the Dutch some hope but they lacked enough support as Pakistan kept chipping away at the wickets.
Haris Rauf (3/43) finishes with the most scalps while his fellow pacers Hasan Ali (2/33) and Shaheen Afridi (1/37) were also among the wickets.
Pakistan will be pleased with the margin of victory as they get their campaign off to a winning start!

Very pleased. Tried to follow my basics and be positive to score for my team. Nerves was there as we'd lost three wickets. I was lucky to get early boundaries. We discussed that the pressure would transfer if we scored, which did happen. The last 2-3 months, I've been working hard. I knew I'd be batting No. 5, I tried to improve my shots, attacking options and be brave. Coaching staff has given me confidence. It's a bit disappointing. Firstly, we bowled and fielded well. We thought they were par. We thought we had a good chance at 2 for 120. Probably a bit of instinct. So many of our batters bowl spin. De Leede is a quality cricket in all three departments. His innings was awesome, just needed someone to be with him. Not spoken to van Beek, need to see where he's at. This is a game that got away. The way Hyderabad has supported us, we've been happy and have enjoyed the hospitality. I am satisfied with the result. Credit to the bowlers, we started well and took wickets in the middle. We lost three wickets while batting, the way Rizwan and Shakeel started took it away. The way Saud built his innings shows his improvement in building an innings. What lies next for Pakistan and Netherlands?
Both teams will remain in Hyderabad for their next fixtures which will be played at the same venue.
Netherlands are next in action on Monday, October 9 as they take on New Zealand, who were rampant in their tournament opener.
Pakistan meanwhile will take to the field on Tuesday, October 10, as they lock horns with Sri Lanka.
