Dhruv qualifies for second round

Bengaluru, DHNS: India's Dhruv Sarda qualified for the second round of the 53rd Qubica AMF World Cup, underway in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Dhruv, who had won a bronze medal in the recently-held Asian Indoor Games, started his first block of 6 games poorly, scoring just 1198 pin fall but came back strongly in his second block, scoring an impressive 1314. His third and fourth blocks were steady as he scored 1269 and 1213 respectively.

Dhruv is currently ranked overall 16th with total pinfall of 4994 pins in 24 games. The top 24 bowlers who moved to Round 2 will bowl 8 games and based on cumulative pinfall of
32 games, the top-8 will move to Round 3. In Round 3, top-8 will bowl eight more games and top-4 will move to knock-out round based on cumulative pinfall in 40 games.

Dhruv was the first Indian to qualify for top 24 in men's category in 2014.

In the women's category, Prathima Hegde qualified for top 24 twice (2009 , 2010) and Sabeena Athica in 2016.
