A strong display under the bar by Ravindran helped Postal FC hold defending champions Madras Engineer Group and Centre (MEG) to a goalless draw in the BDFA Super Division league at the Bangalore Football stadium here on Wednesday.

MEG, who have 10 points from five matches, will have to win their remaining four matches to go past HASC, who have already completed their league engagements with 20 points. Postal have seven points from six games.

Ravindran came up with at least half-a-dozen saves on the day which started with the ninth minute stop when Nigil Raj produced a side kick off a corner on the right by Vineet. The Postal custodian was in the thick of action again, diving to the left to palm away a curling long ranger from Charanjith in the 26th.

In between, Sharath had a chance to put Postal ahead but the striker, who did his best to reach the cross from the right by his strike partner Gopi, side-netted at the near post.

MEG continued their domination in the second half but their frontline Lokeshwar Singh and Nguernilal Hmar failed to convert the final delivery. Hmar was denied from close range by Ravindran, who came up with a reflex save, while MEG’s Charanjith volleyed over a rebound.

And when Sappers’ Girish VK got the measure of rival goalkeeper, from a long ranger, he was denied by the post.

Other result: ‘A’ Division: LRDE: 1 (P Mani 35th) bt BUFC: 0.
