HC notice to Centre on PIL

The Delhi High Court on Monday asked the Centre and sports bodies, including Sports Authority of India, to file their responses to a PIL alleging irregularities and non-observance of national sports code by various federations.

“We can spend some more time and dispose of the main petition, pending since 2010. Let the replies be filed and the matter be fixed on February 22,” Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice V K Jain said.

Besides the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the court also asked sports bodies, including suspended bodies, to file their replies to the PIL filed by an advocate Rahul Mehra. Meanwhile, the court decided to dispose of applications filed by Mehra in the pending PIL.
