The classy right-hander, who flew in from Dhaka via Mumbai, obliged autograph hunters and spoke briefly before getting into his car and being driven away.
Looking none the worse for the longish journey and the injury, Dravid refused to commit on his future plans, except to say that he will seek further medical advice in Bangalore as he recuperates from the injury sustained when a Shahadat Hossain short delivery that didn’t bounce as much as expected crashed into the side of his helmet.
“I am feeling much better,” Dravid said. “I will be meeting a few doctors and will also consult experts at the National Cricket Academy. I already have reports of the doctors in Bangladesh. I will show the reports and the scans to the doctors here so that they can continue the treatment accordingly. I will also keep in touch with Indian team physio (Nitin Patel). Let’s see how it goes.”
India’s selectors will meet on Thursday to pick to the team for the Test series against South Africa beginning in Nagpur on February 6.
With less than ten days left, Dravid is all but certain to miss the first Test. If things go according to plan and the injury heals completely by then, the 37-year-old might play the second Test, from February 14 in Kolkata.
