Thulasi, the current national runner-up, pulled off a 21-16, 21-18 victory over Korean Lee So Hee.
Saili thrashed Filipchuk Ilyana of Kazakhstan 21-4, 21-4 while N Sikki Reddy defeated Chehera Lashini of Sri lanka 21-7, 21-10.
PV Sindhu lost to Malaysian Ng Florah Siew Fong 20-22, 20-22.
In the men’s singles, HS Prannoy beat Fayaz Ismail of Maldives 21-5, 21-8 in the first round. Sai Praneet, seeded fourth, Sumeeth Reddy and Naqvi Eshan have got a bye in the first round.
