 Indian women's volleyball team started their South Asian Games (SAG) campaign on a resounding note by thrashing a hapless Maldives 3-0 in their opening fixture, here today.

India produced a dominating show as the hosts registered a comfortable 25-9 25-9 25-10 victory over the Maldivian girls in their SAG opener.

In the other match of the women's category, Sri Lanka beat Nepal 3-0 (25-19 25-14 28-26).
Meanwhile in the men's section, Bangladesh had to fight hard to prevail 3-2 over Afghanistan (25-12 20-25 21-25 31-29 15-13), while Sri Lanka beat Nepal 3-0 (25-10 25-15 25-10) and Pakistan defeated Maldives 3-0 (25-22 25-14 25-20).
