As Bengaluru Bulls get ready for their first home game against table toppers U Mumba on Wednesday in the Pro Kabaddi League, injury to as many as six players is giving coach Randhir Singh a reason to worry about.

“I don’t want to name them but as many as six players from the Bengaluru team are injured. Most of them have shown improvement and are raring to go, which is a pleasing sign,” said Randhir.

Skipper Manjeet, who will join the team on Wednesday after receiving a cash award of Rs 2 crore from the Haryana government for his Asian Games gold medal, is suffering from typhoid while senior raider Ajay Thakur has recovered from a muscle strain. Randhir feels it is a challenging situation but also a good opportunity for youngsters to step up.

“Youngsters such as Ashish Chhokar and Preetam Chillar have shown great talent and won us matches in the past. I expect them to keep their momentum going and steer the side home,” he said.

Aware about the importance of producing a fine show to strengthen their chances of playing in the semifinals, Randhir said that the team is ready with specific strategies for each team.

“We beat them (Mumbai) last year in Bengaluru and we are confident of doing it again. We have plans for each team and hope to execute them to perfection.”

Randhir lauded the crowd support for the team and expected a strong backing from the people of Bengaluru. “We love playing here as the crowd is very energetic. We want to win all the matches of the leg and provide the crowd a great time,” said a confident-looking Randhir.
