Kipkemoi wins Pune marathon

 Kenyan Luka Kipkemoi Chelimo won the 27th Pune International Marathon here on Sunday, warding off the challenge from compatriot Simon Kirui Kiprugut.

Luka clocked two hours, 13 minutes and 03 seconds to finish ahead of Simon, who timed 2:14:09. Danel Aschenik Derese of Ethiopia claimed the third spot in 2:14:43.
Pauline Kamulu Kaveke led a Kenyan sweep in the women’s half-marathon, timing 1:08:37, leaving behind Agnes Mutuu Katunge and Hellen Musyoka Nzembi.

In the men’s half-marathon the Kenyans swept the podium. Melaku Belachew came first at 1:01.19, Goytabi Wabi was second six seconds behind while Gezemu Dejenee finished third at 1:02.25.

Half-marathon: Melaku Belachew (Ethiopia) 1:01:19, 1; Goytabi Wabi Teftiye (Ethiopia) 1:01:24, 2; Gezemu Dejenee (Ethiopia) 1:02:25, 3.

10K run: Deepak Kumar (India) 30:15.9, 1; P Nagendra Rao (India) 30:27.5, 2; Naveen Hooda (India) 30:52.4, 3.

Women (half-marathon): Pauline Kamulu Kaveke (Kenya) 1:08:37, 1; Agnes Mutune Katunge (Kenya) 1:09:04, 2; Hellen Musyoka Nzembi (Kenya) 1:11:06, 3.

10K run: Lalita Babar (India) 36:03.3, 1; Swati Haridas Gadhave (India) 36:12.5, 2; Monika Athre (India) 36:44.8, 3.
