Low ticket sales concerns Ceppi

Tournament Director of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), FIFA U-17 World Cup, Javier Ceppi informed on Friday that 90-95 per cent work of Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is over but the low ticket sales in the capital was a point of concern.

The World Cup is set to kick off in 62 days here on October 6. And with India’s group matches being shifted from Navi Mumbai to Delhi following the requests from Sports Ministry and AIFF, a low turn out on match days is not something that the organisers can afford.

“There’s a lot of work happened at the stadium, some great work. The stadium is 90-95% ready. The facility was already good but now it has become better. You will see the difference,” Ceppi told reporters.

“The sale of tickets in Delhi are normally low. However, the sales by the standard of Delhi have been good. But Delhi still lags behind Kolkata, Guwahati and Kochi, we expect a bigger boom. The prices are very nominal because we want people to come.”
