Maharashtra, Kerala enter semifinals

Maharashtra will lock horns with Kerala in the first semifinal of the 67th National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy here on Thursday.

Maharashtra defeated Tamil Nadu 2-1 to enter the last-four stage from Group B at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium in Kollam on Tuesday.

Maharashtra ended their quarterfinal league assignments with nine points from three matches.

MP Pradeep (75th, 88th) scored for Maharashtra while A Raegan (85th) reduced the margin for TN.

Kerala made it to the semifinals after a 1-1 draw with Haryana in Group C at Kochi. The hosts finished on top with seven points ahead of Haryana, who collected four points.
Jharkhand and Goa played out a 2-2 draw in an inconsequential Group B game. Goa ended third with two points.

Jammu  and Kashmir defeated Uttar Pradesh 2-1 in the other group tie. Uttar Pradesh (3) finished third on better goal difference over J & K.
