Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has been removed from the post of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) president following a no confidence motion passed by a rival fraction at the special general meeting of the cricket body.

Out of 33 members, 18 members cast their votes and 17 were against Modi. Amin Pathan is all set to take charge as the new chief of RCA.

Amidst high drama, supporters of Lalit Modi were stopped outside the RCA premises and unidentified people pelted stones on their buses.

“All supporters of Modi were coming to RCA office in two buses. Suddenly a few miscreants stopped our buses and pelted stones,” said Mukesh Sarraf, a Modi supporter.

As per the Rajasthan Sports Act, the rival group needs a two-thirds majority to remove Modi and the no confidence motion may again be challenged in court.
