Explaining as to why he resigned from the chief selector’s job earlier this week, Qadir ended up stirring a hornet’s nest by claiming that Younis and former captain Shoaib Malik did not deserve a place in the current Pakistan squad in England.
“To be honest, If I had been allowed to have my say I would not have picked Younis Khan or even Shoaib Malik in the Twenty20 squad for the World Cup. Younis does not deserve a place in the T20 team while when we have Saeed Ajmal you don’t need Malik in the side,” he said.
Qadir rubbished reports that he was sacked by the board on corruption charges and said he quit the job as he could no longer take the interference in selection matters.
