Driving a Maruti Esteem, duo were in command after the rally, in its maiden edition, was flagged from Royal Orchid on Wednesday morning.
The drivers will wrap up Leg 1 at Ooty and halt overnight before resuming Leg 2.
During the 150 KM Leg 2 stage, drivers will have to negotiate 150 dangerous hairpin bends.
