The Indian hopes in the men’s singles events at the Badminton Asia Championships, scheduled to be held in China next week, received a severe blow after World No 4 Kidambi Srikanth and impressive youngester H S Prannoy withdrew from the event.

While the World No 14 Prannoy is yet recover from a foot injury that forced him to pull out of Singapore Open’s quarterfinals against Japanese heavyweight Kento Momota, Srikanth cited fatigue as a factor. The Indian ace said he ‘was not so fit’ for the competition having played continuously for three back-to-back weeks in Super Series and Super Series Premier events in the last month.
