“Yeah we got scared,” the England batsman admitted when asked about the twin-blasts just before their Saturday’s last league match against the Mumbai Indians. There were unconfirmed reports that most of the foreign players, including Pietersen, were reluctant to take the field after the low-intensity explosions and that it needed the persuasive skills of skipper Anil Kumble to convince them to play.

“With the incident that happened before the game, few of us were very rattled and yeah once we get to Mumbai this afternoon we can solely concentrate on the game,” he remarked. While the match itself went incident-free, the discovery of two more bombs the next day in the vicinity of the stadium, forced the organisers to move the matches out of Bangalore.

“Whatever has happened is unfortunate as far as the incident is concerned,” maintained Pietersen, who was more than happy to be in Mumbai. “(But) I am happy with the security after that and the things that have happened after that (shifting of the semis) and I am hoping to reach Mumbai soon and get back to business,” he noted.
