World 10K raises 3.7 cr for charity

The 2013 edition of the TCS World 10K, held on May 19, raised Rs 3.71 crore towards charity – an increase of more than 21 per cent from last year, the organisers announced on Thursday.

The 2012 edition had raised 3.06 crore for charity.

Murray Culshaw, the founder chairman of Bangalore Cares, charity partners for the 10K event, congratulated TCS for backing the event and mentioned there were more donations this year than ever before because of the increased public confidence.

Awards were also given away for the best submitted photos of the 10K event. Kishore Kumar Bolar of Deccan Herald won the second runner-up prize, while K Sunil Prasad of Times of India and R Samuel of Deccan Chronicle won the top two awards respectively.
Alex Oloitiptip and Gladys Cherono of Kenya had emerged champions in the event.
