The testing Karnataka Golf Association course will first play host to the Karnataka Junior Championship from May 24-27, and then the South India Junior championship from May 30-June 3.

Leading Bangalore’s charge will be the home-grown Trishul Chinnappa, looking to capitalise on every bit of his knowledge of the course in his bid to win his first title of a season that is only two tournaments old. After pulling out of the season-opening Haryana Junior Championship at New Delhi, last year’s Category A overall champion battled through heat stroke and exhaustion to finish a respectable third in the Northern Indian Junior Championship at Noida last week.

“I was four-under and led after the opening round,” Chinnappa said after the practice round on Monday. “But then I suffered a heat stroke and couldn’t play my best game. I thought of pulling out but then decided to continue. I am happy with the way I played and hope to strike it rich at my home course.”

Among the girls, the talented Aditi Ashok -- playing in Category B -- will be the one to watch while Bangalore Golf Club’s Nikita Arjun should prove a strong contender in Category A.
As is the norm, the tournament will be held in four different age categories.
